Garden Fairies continued

I can't believe it. A fairy in my garden. I couldn't wait to get back out there and find the fairy again. I got out of bed and threw on my clothes. Coffee could wait. I didn't even grab my tools. I had so many plans for this little fairy. I walked to the garden and knelt down by the cement block. I leaned over and looked in. No fairy!! Where did she go. I sat up and looked around. Nowhere. Just gone.I felt myself getting misty eyed. My heart felt heavy. I felt like I had lost my best friend. Slowly, I got up and went back to the house.
All day long, I kept going to the kitchen window and looking out at the garden. I wanted so bad to see the shine and glitter of wings out there. No such luck. I wasn't giving up. I started making plans. Did fairies eat? What did they eat? I went to the refrigerator and checked to see if there was anything that might appeal to a fairy. Cake, I had cake. I pinched off a tiny piece and put it on a plate..Then I went to my sewing box and got my thimble and took it back to the kitchen. A tablespoon of milk and it was full enough. I set the thimble on the plate and then went out the back door and out to the garden. I carefully set the plate down on the cement block. I stood up and stepped back. I stood and watched for a few minutes and then turned around and went back to the house. It was hard waiting. I sat and watched tv a little, then crocheted some, picked up a book and put it back down when I realized that I had read the same paragraph four times and still didn't know what I had read. I kept checking the clock. Two hours. I would wait two hours. How much time had passed so far? Twenty minutes? Only twenty minutes? I knew this was going to be a long day. I sat back down in the chair, put my head back and closed my eyes.
